Ander Herrera could be set to stay with Manchester United after a delay in his proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spaniard is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer and a new deal seemed unlikely to materialise.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to keep the 29-year-old and admitted earlier this month talks are ongoing.
It is understood Herrera wants to take his wages from Ă‚£80,000-a-week closer to around Ă‚£200,000, but the Red Devils are said to be offering closer to Ă‚£125,000.
As a result, a verbal agreement with PSG had reportedly been reached to take the former Athletic Bilbao star to Ligue 1.
However, Paris Team are claiming the delay in negotiations is frustrating PSG sporting director Antero Henrique, who is said to be ‘annoyed’ at the lack of progress with negotiations.
TRANSFER LATEST
The Parisians have been trying to solve their midfield problems for months, with Idrissa Gueye, N’Golo Kante and Abdoulaye Doucoure linked with moves to the Parc des Princes.
Adrien Rabiot has been forced to train with the kids after refusing to sign a new deal, with Barcelona narrowly missing out on signing the 24-year-old.
Herrera is seen as the man to solve the midfield crisis, but the lack of progress could force Thomas Tuchel to look elsewhere to fill the void.
Jadon Sancho is reportedly Manchester United's top target this summer. The 19-year-old has been an integral part of Borussia Dortmund's title challenging squad. His form has also seen the teenager break into Gareth Southgate's England team and is widely regarded as one of the countries brightest young prospects.
