Manchester City will demand an apology from Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness over his remarks about their transfer dealings.
Hoeness recently made extraordinary claims that owner Sheikh Mansour pays for transfers by ramping up the price of oil.
That has incensed club officials at City, who consider the comment to be a slur on the way they conduct their business.
According to the Mirror, the reigning Premier League champions will take legal action against Hoeness, a convicted tax evader, unless he makes a full public apology.
A senior source at the club said: “It was the remark of a smug, arrogant egotist.
â€Å“We are also concerned that there may be a racist element to what Hoeness has claimed.â€

He knows City boss Pep Guardiola from the Spaniard’s trophy-laden spell in Germany.
He sensationally claimed at a conference in Munich: â€Å“My friend Pep told me what happens when he signs a player costing £85m.
â€Å“He puts some videos together and goes to see the sheikh.
