Manchester United transfer news: Dan James set to sign for Red Devils in £15million deal months after Leeds move collapses

Manchester United are set to sign Swansea star Dan James in a £15million summer deal, according to reports.

James, the Wales winger, is widely regarded as one of the Championship’s best players, and the 21-year-old caught the eye with some stunning performances throughout Swansea’s run to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

He has just a year left on his deal at the Liberty Stadium, however, and the Welsh club are set to cash in on their prized asset.

Sky Sports report James is set to sign for United with the two clubs close to agreeing a £15million deal, with the youngster to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing since his appointment as Red Devils manager.

James was close to joining Swansea’s Championship rivals Leeds United during the January transfer window, with the player reportedly at Elland Road ready to be unveiled before the move collapsed.

James’ form for Swansea has seen him earn international recognition.

The Yorkshire-born winger made his debut for Wales last November, with Old Trafford legend Ryan Giggs handing him his first cap. He scored his first goal on his second appearance, netting the only strike of the game in a March defeat of Slovakia.

James has spoken glowingly of Giggs, as well as Wales team-mate Gareth Bale, with the youngster learning off the pair.

“It’s massive for me to learn off the gaffer and Gareth,” James said earlier this year.

“They’ve obviously shown a lot to me and the gaffer said to me before the game ‘go and do what you’ve been doing at Swansea’.

“Gareth just said ‘keep getting at the full-back’ and that’s what I did.”
