Cesc Fabregas and Eidur Gudjohnsen have criticised Maurizio Sarri for snubbing Chelsea captain Gary Cahill in the Europa League win over Arsenal.
Chelsea turned on the style to thrash Arsenal 4-1 in Baku, as an impressive second-half display swept aside their London rivals thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Pedro and a brace from the departing Eden Hazard.
Cahill, 33, remained on the bench throughout, with Sarri opting to bring on Davide Zappacosta, as his final substitute, for Hazard in the 89th minute.
The defender will leave the club after they opted not to renew his contract and former midfielder Fabregas feels he should have been afforded the chance to bow out one last time.
Instead it was left to captain Cesar Azpilicueta to show his class, as he invited Cahill up on to the podium to lift the trophy.

“A fantastic servant for the club. I mean, if there is one thing that I am missing tonight, it was this touch from somebody,” Fabregas told BT Sport.
“Especially it should come – and I know it’s his [Sarri’s] night, I don’t want to say anything negative tonight – but a little touch to Gary Cahill, five minutes to go, 4-1 against Arsenal, put him on, give him the armband.
“Let him leave as a proper hero as he deserves. I missed that to be honest. But anyway, a great night for Chelsea Football Club.”
Another former Chelsea star, Eidur Gudjohnsen, echoed the thoughts of Fabregas, calling Cahill a ‘fantastic servant.’
“That is absolutely spot on. I am not sure it even crossed Sarri’s mind, because maybe as a coach he was so focused on everything that goes on.”
Fabregas added: “But that’s why you have people around you as well that help you.”
To which Gudjohnsen responded: “Yeah, people that say, ‘Listen, five minutes to go, 4-1 up, show the respect that he deserve’. He’s been a fantastic servant to Chelsea.”
