Jagielka, who has been at Everton since 2007, was a 91st-minute substitute in a 2-0 win over Burnley on Friday night in what could have been his final game at Goodison Park.

When asked about his future, the 36-year-old said: â€Å“The answer will probably come in the next ten days.

â€Å“I hope it is not my last game but it could well be.

â€Å“I hope there are some great moments to continue but, if not, I can’t complain.

â€Å“If it is a farewell game at home, so be it, but I want to continue playing football for as long as I can.”

Everton boss Marco Silva has used Michael Keane, Kurt Zouma and Yerry Mina ahead of Jagielka this season.

But the Portuguese coach revealed his admiration for the former England defender following a testing campaign.

Silva said: “One different season to him, he didn’t play like he played for the last 11 years.

“But his behaviour as a captain was really good, he understood a little bit his different role this season, the competition was really tough. The others did a fantastic season.

“He understood and always helped his team-mates, his behaviour during the week is really good.

“When his team needs him, he was there and he was everything that you would expect from a fantastic professional and a good captain.”
