Chelsea transfer news: N’Golo Kante ‘wanted’ by Real Madrid if Paul Pogba proves too costly from Manchester United

N’Golo Kante is reportedly a summer transfer target for Real Madrid as they look to overhaul their squad in the summer.

The La Liga club have already made Chelsea winger Eden Hazard their number one priority ahead of next season.

The Blues could face another battle to keep one of their star players.

The Daily Express report that Zinedine Zidane could turn to Kante if Madrid cannot get a deal done for Paul Pogba.

The cost of bringing the Manchester United midfielder to the Spanish capital could be a stumbling block.

Figures of around £130million for the France international have been suggested and would make him one of the most expensive players ever.

Chelsea are facing a transfer ban and are unlikely to want to sell two of their most prized assets without being able to bring in replacements.

Kante has been played out of position by Maurizio Sarri with Jorginho being preferred in the defensive midfield role.

The Blues signed him for just £32million in 2016 after helping Leicester City win the Premier League title.

He then went on to win the league in his first season with the club under Antonio Conte.

The 28-year-old was also named as the PFA Players’ Player of the Year in that title-winning campaign.
