But that's it from us for tonight, we'll be back on Sunday for the Nations League final, see you then!
England 1 Netherlands 3 – player reaction
Harry Kane on Sky Sports: “It’s a massive disappointment, especially after being ahead at half-time.
“We came out a bit slow in the second and dropped a bit too deep. It took their equaliser for us to step it up and once we did, I thought we played really well and we scored a goal which we thought was going to be the winner.
“That’s the fine margins in big games like this. It didn’t go our way today and we know the mistakes we made but that’s the part of learning like a team and we take it on the chin like a team because that’s the way we want to play.”
England 1 Netherlands 3 – player reaction
Speaking to the BBC, Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk said: “We will see what is going to happen in the final but we defended well as a team.
“We should have done more in front of goal but to win with this team is great. I thought we were the better team and we had the better chances.”
England 1 Netherlands 3 – player reaction
Speaking to the BBC, England midfielder Declan Rice said: “It is gutting and really tough to take.
“After Marcus put that penalty in, we ran our socks off in the first half.
“But then we sat back a bit and the set-piece is a tough one to take because we work on that day in day out.
“Then we had the VAR controversy and it's a tough one to take while we were all celebrating. We have to take it on the chin and then we gifted them two goals.”
Koeman got the best of Southgate tonight.
England 1 Netherlands 3 – player reaction
Raheem Sterling speaking to Sky Sports: “We soaked up the pressure really well. Towards the end of the second half I thought we were the better team but we made some silly mistakes and were punished for it.
“One day VAR might help us but today it didn't. They had their pressing right on the night. We made a few mistakes and I thought we tried to play at times but it didn't work.
“The team was slightly altered today. A few players were missing that usually play. But players come in and do a job and that's what they did today. It was only Declan's [Rice] second start and he did well but it wasn't to be.
“We have still made progress to get to this stage but it is about kicking on and making that last step now.”
England player ratings
JORDAN PICKFORD: Hardly tested before the break and could do nothing about the goals, almost spared Stones' blushes with a tremendous save. 7
KYLE WALKER: A shaky evening for the Manchester City full-back, summed up when he was caught in possession early on and then unfortunately scored the own-goal which saw England eliminated. 4
JOHN STONES: Lost De Ligt for the equaliser before his error in extra-time led to Holland's winning goal. 3
HARRY MAGUIRE: Usually so comfortable in possession but, like Stones, was caught out too often. 5
BEN CHILWELL: Not his best game in an England shirt and may lose his place to Danny Rose for Sunday's third-place play-off. 5
FABIAN DELPH: Operating as the midfield enforcer and an experienced head in a young England side. 7
DECLAN RICE: Took a while to get the West Ham man in an England shirt but he has grasped his opportunity with both hands and looked good again here. 7
ROSS BARKLEY: Strong and skilful in the midfield area but another whose individual error helped in England's downfall. 4
JADON SANCHO: Still adapting to international football but always lively and never shies away from possession. 6
RAHEEM STERLING: A 50th cap and the England captaincy but not as much of an impact as in his recent international appearances. 6
MARCUS RASHFORD: Lightning fast thinking shocked De Ligt and won penalty which he then coolly stroked home. Went off injured at half-time. 7
SUBSTITUTES
HARRY KANE (for Rashford, 46): Unlikely to have come on so early but for Rashford's knock and still looks jaded. 6
JESSE LINGARD (for Sancho, 61): Thought he had won it late on for England only to see his effort ruled out by the tightest offside call from VAR. 7
JORDAN HENDERSON (for Delph, 77): Like-for-like change but the Champions League-winning captain will not be getting his hands on another trophy this week. 6
DELE ALLI (for Rice, 106): Little time to make an impact and hardly touched the ball. 5
A mix of emotions…
So England miss out on another final and those two horrible mistakes cost them big.
Don't forget Sancho's header to make it 2-0 and, of course, that Lingard goal that was ruled out.
The Three Lions played well and certainly did enough to win it but two woeful errors have decided it.

England are still going here as Kane wins a corner.
It goes long and Henderson tries to flick it back into the box but can't find Alli at the back post.
England 1 Netherlands 3 – Quincy Promes
Another defensive howler and that is that.
Barkley is at fault this time as he plays his pass straight to Depay who in turn puts it on a plate for Promes to slot home.
Game over and England will be left to rue their defensive mistakes. It's been a horror show at the back in extra-time.
England 1 Netherlands 2
England are seeing a lot of the ball now but can they find a chance?
Walker crosses for Kane but De Ligt gets there first and wins a foul off the England skipper.
England 1 Netherlands 2
Kane does really well to win a corner off De Ligt. Chilwell takes but it's woeful this time.
England 1 Netherlands 2
Nasty tackle by Van de Beek on Barkley and he goes into the book.
Pickford fires the ball into the box but the Netherlands can clear.
England 1 Netherlands 2
Alli is on for England in place of Rice as they get the game underway again.
England 1 Netherlands 2 HALF TIME
England 1 Netherlands 2
Another wonder save by Pickford to keep a bullet header from Depay out.
The Dutch are dominating this game now as Depay tests out Pickford at the front post again.
England 1 Netherlands 2 – Quincy Promes
What a disaster for England at the back…
Stones make a horrible mess of things and lets Depay in but Pickford somehow saves.
But the rebound falls into space and Promes can bundle it in.
England 1 Netherlands 1
It's all the Netherlands now as De Jong wins a free-kick off Stones in a great position.
Depay is over it but Pickford can cling onto the effort.
