Naby Keita was a surprise starter for Liverpool’s trip to Southampton on Friday night but it turned out to be a very astute decision from manager Jurgen Klopp.
The midfielder got the Reds right back in it at St Mary’s with his header getting the equalising goal after Shane Long gave Saints an early lead.
The goal was actually Keita’s first since he completed his move to Anfield last summer.
He cut a very relieved figure when celebrating opening his account for his new club on his 28th game for Liverpool – taking 29 shots to finally get his first goal.
And it helped Liverpool claim a crucial 3-1 win in a game where the visitors were far from their best.
And some Kopites took to Twitter to congratulate Keita on his first Liverpool strike.
