Manchester City vs Tottenham: Spurs to assess Dele Alli ahead of Champions League clash, Harry Winks ruled out

Tottenham will assess Dele Alli’s condition before Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg at Manchester City.

The England midfielder trained with a cast on his hand on Tuesday, having broken it in last week’s first leg, and Spurs will see whether he is fit to play.

There is bad news for Mauricio Pochettino, though, as Harry Winks has not travelled due to a groin injury.

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris said the team were ready to suffer against City.

Lloris told the pre-match press conference: “We are ready to suffer because we know we are going to suffer. But we can cause problems too.

“We know the task is very difficult in the Premier League. It is a massive opportunity for the club to move one big step forward.”

Pochettino added on the chances of Alli facing City: “We need to assess him, we are going to have the last training session today and we are going to decide whether it is possible for him to start or be on the bench.”

Pochettino added: “It is going to be tough tomorrow, Man City is one of the best in the world and is a clear favourite to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

“For us to beat them in the first leg was an amazing result. But we know the tie is still open.

“Whatever happens tomorrow happens, we are going to be proud of our run in the Champions League. But that doesn’t mean we are not going to fight.”

Pochettino believes Ronaldinho could be proven right after the former player backed Spurs for the Champions League title.

The Spurs boss said: “He knows a lot about football, we need to respect him, he was a great team-mate at PSG.

“We spent an amazing time together, not outside of the pitch. Why not? In football, all can happen.”
