Real Madrid news: Luka Jovic set to complete £51m move to LaLiga giants from Eintracht Frankfurt

Real Madrid have begun their rebuilding process by closing in on the signing of Serbian international Luka Jovic.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker is said to have cost €60million (£51m), with €48million (£40.8m) going to his current club and €12million (£10.2m) going to Benfica, who still own a percentage of the player’s rights, report Spanish outlet AS.

He will be Real’s second capture after they managed to secure the services of defender Eder Militao from Porto and is expected to join on a six-year deal, with Mariano Diaz going the other way in a separate transfer.

Barcelona were also said to be interested in the 21-year-old, but his asking price meant they withdrew pursuing it any further.

It has been an impressive season for Jovic, who has found the net 26 times in 44 matches, helping Frankfurt go fourth in the Bundesliga and challenge for a place in the Champions League next season.

On Thursday, Jovic scored the opener in the Europa League semi-final first leg against Chelsea, in a match that finished 1-1.
