Ryan Giggs helped advise Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Manchester United’s rumoured summer move for Swansea star Daniel James, reports claim.
Solskjaer allegedly sought out the opinion of his former Old Trafford team-mate, who is James’ manager at international level with Wales.
United are negotiating a deal with Swansea over a fee for the winger, who is expected become Solskjaer’s first summer signing at a cost of around £15million.
James has enjoyed an excellent season at the Liberty Stadium and caught the eye of a wider audience with a stunning performance in Swansea’s FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Manchester City.
The 21-year-old has just a season left on his contract with the Championship club, and looked set to leave for Leeds United in January only for the move to collapse at the eleventh hour.

The Yorkshire-born attacker made his debut for Wales last November, with Old Trafford legend Giggs handing him his first cap.
He scored his first goal for his country on his second appearance, netting the only strike of the game in a March defeat of Slovakia, and Giggs spoke highly of the youngster in the wake of the match.
He continued to praise James when approached by Solskjaer, The Mirror claim, with Giggs allegedly telling his former team-mate he has ‘no doubt’ James has the talent to make it as a Manchester United player.
Giggs is claimed to have highlighted James’ off the ball work-rate as one of his biggest strengths.
United have not been alone in chasing James, with new Brighton manager Graham Potter, who managed Swansea last season, said to be keen on reuniting with his former winger at the Amex.
